Map of Senegal

Senegal officially the Republic of Senegal is a country in West Africa. Senegal is bordered by Mauritania in the north, Mali to the east, Guinea to the southeast, and Guinea-Bissau to the southwest. Senegal also borders The Gambia, a country occupying a narrow sliver of land along the banks of the Gambia River, which separates Senegal's southern region of Casamance from the rest of the country. Senegal also shares a maritime border with Cape Verde. Senegal's economic and political capital is Dakar.

The unitary semi-presidential republic is the westernmost country in the mainland of the Old World, or Afro-Eurasia, and owes its name to the Senegal River, which borders it to the east and north. The name "Senegal" comes from the Wolof "Sunuu Gaal", which means "Our Boat". Senegal covers a land area of almost 197,000 square kilometers (76,000 sq. mi) and has an estimated population of about 15 million. The climate is typically Sahelian, though there is a rainy season.

Received on 27th of December, 2018. Thanks to my dear friend Yangyang Hong who is a a civil engineer and working there on a project. This is his second card to me, as earlier card was missent to India, where Indian post sticked a missent sticker on the face of the stamps but fortunately this card came without any hassle, which under the current circumstances looks like a great achievement.
A small story which I would like to put forward here regarding the background this mail. As Senegal is a hard to get mail country, as not much people are interested in hobbies there, I was constantly trying my best for a post card from Senegal for some years now and in the due course left no stone unturned. In the course of time I realized that there was a girl from Senegal whom I had met in Germany who might be able to help me achieving this little achievement. Sadly, after more than three years of constant reminders and promises, nothing was achieved other than excuses. Unfortunately this is the state of affairs we have to live with. I once again thank my dear friend Yangyang for always listening to me and taking time from his schedule to make things possible.
